What is wellness care? Quite simply, just as stated above, obtaining health and then maintaining health to prevent disease or dis-ease.
Why Wellness Care?
The future of health care will focus on the prevention of illness and disease rather than just the treatment of it.
Ever heard the term, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"? It is easier to maintain your overall good health than to try and rebound from sickness and disease.
Wellness care works to try and maintain a healthy body through healthy habits, such as diet and exercise, proper sleep and care of all the parts of your body, including eyes, skin, teeth and even your spinal column!
Our contribution to Wellness Care:
The majority of our patients return to our office to maintain the good health that they have achieved with the help from our office.
While most patients initially presented to our office with specific aches and pains, when eliminated they have opted to maintain the higher state of health that one achieves with maintenance or wellness care.
The spinal column is one of the most neglected areas of the body in proper care and maintenance but can cause the most detriment to your overall health if neglected. By keeping your spinal column functioning optimally you can avoid the pitfalls associated with a “BAD BACK”.
Spinal adjustments help your spinal column and nervous system in many ways:
1. Normal movement of the spine maintains the health of your inter-vertebral discs; by keeping your spine moving properly this helps hydrate and supply nutrients to your discs working to prevent disc dehydration/degeneration.
2. The joints where your vertebrae articulate with one another are kept healthy with normal movement, allowing synovial (joint) fluid to move about and lubricate joint surfaces properly.
3. Spinal nerves are kept free from irritation, eliminating muscle spasms, aches and pain associated with subluxations, or spinal mis-alignments.
4. Spinal range of motion is preserved. Flexibility and balance are lost with fixated or mis-aligned joints.
These are a few of the benefits of regular chiropractic adjustments and the majority of our healthy patients are enjoying them through wellness care.
Health does not come from one treatment alone and that is why we incorporate many different avenues for our patients to include into their wellness routine.
Routine physical activity works the muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Physical fitness also benefit individuals by increasing weight loss, mental awareness as well as a feeling of self improvement. We encourage regular physical activity whether in or out of the gym and offer many different pathways to reach this goal. We provide exercises for a specific condition as well as for general well-being. We also show proper technique when exercising to maximize results while working out. Additionally, the actions involved during physical exercises are improved when you have full spinal range of motion and lack of nerve irritation, allowing full mobility and maximizing your results without worrying about pain during your fitness routine.
Proper Nutrition is a necessity for overall wellbeing. We encourage proper nutrition and make specific suggestions for certain conditions which may help alleviate or speed up recovery. You may have full flexibility and work out every day, but if you don’t provide the proper fuel and nutrients for your body then your performance and overall health will be affected.
Massage is another way to help cope physically and mentally with stress and the effects it has on our bodies. Stress and injury can affect our muscles by causing chronic muscle spasms and pain over time. By breaking this cycle before it becomes a chronic problem your physical and emotional wellbeing are put at ease. Many of our massage patients include massage in their health regimen to avoid potential episodes of pain from reoccurring.
Our goal is to have all of our patients out of pain and enjoying complete wellness through these and other outlets. Of course there are many other factors that can be included that are available but all can not be listed here.
